TargetCD.net is dedicated to documenting distinct Target CD variations. Its data is maintained in a relational database which is called the TargetCD.net database. Every variation listed on this website has supporting evidence to document its existence. This evidence is saved in archive files associated with the website. Not all evidence is of equal quality. The following is a list of the types of evidence on file (please note, many entries have multiple types of evidence):

  1. High-resolution images produced on a scanner using the actual CD Package, including the CD, insert/booklet, traycard, obi (when present), lyric sheet (when present), and catalog(when present). For every CD variation image on the website, there is a corresponding high-resolution image on file. The TargetCD.net database entries were created by inspecting the physical items, and the scans were reviewed to determine that all of the property values listed in the database could be seen in the scans. There are a few instances where the Hub Printing property cannot be seen in an image and the database entry made from the inspection of the actual item serves as the only documentation for the property value. Images for some CD packages have been submitted by users of this website. These entries show the submitter's name after the TRA field. Some entries on this website show a green box that says "Image Coming Soon." This indicates the website administrators have a copy of the item and will add the images within a few months. Green box entries always have an 'A' in the TRA field.

  2. Reference to the website http://www.thetargetcdcollection.com/. These entries have a 'T' in the TRA field. Go to that website for supporting evidence of its existence. Every CD documented on that website has a good quality picture of the discface; however, the data sides have a picture only when needed to differentiate between variations. Each entry has a caption that describes the property values. Any property value described in a caption is included in the TargetCD.net database even when there is no picture in which the property value can be seen. There are no instances where a caption contradicts property values that can be seen in a picture. The information provided with every entry is sufficient to identify the precise variation of the entry.

  3. References to the website http://www.targetcd.com/. These entries have an 'R' in the TRA field. Go to that website for supporting evidence of its existence. Most, but not all CDs documented on that website have a picture of the discface. The pictures range in quality from good to poor. The data sides don't have pictures. Each entry has a caption that describes some of the property values. Some entries describe property values of similar variations that are not shown with a picture. The variations that are described but have no picture are included in the TargetCD.net database. Any property value described in a caption is included in the TargetCD.net database even when there is no picture in which the property value can be seen. There are no instances where a caption contradicts property data that can be seen in a picture. Not every entry is described sufficiently to identify the precise variation. In these cases, if the property information provided matches one or more known variations from evidence types 1 or 2, then that entry is matched to exactly one of those entries. If the entry provides enough information to identify it as a distinct variation, then it is entered in the TargetCD.net database with the missing property values marked as unknown.

  4. A few database entries have been created based on eBay offers. The information was acquired from the pictures and information provided by the seller. This data is saved in the archive folders. This type of evidence is used only for variations that do not have evidence of types 1, 2, or 3.
